Freedom Park is beautiful. I shoot there all the time. But if you've scrolled through Charlotte photography for more than five minutes, you've seen it, the pond, the bridge, the same backdrop on repeat.
Spring in Charlotte is too good to blend in. So here are five spots I actually love shooting at when I want something different.
1. McGill Rose Garden (NoDa)
This one is my favorite. It's tucked in NoDa and feels nothing like the rest of Charlotte — brick walls, string lights, roses everywhere. It's got this old-world feel that photographs beautifully without trying too hard.
Pro tip: It's also a wine and coffee bar (Rosie's Coffee & Wine Garden). Book your session here and stay for a glass of rosé after. Those in-between moments make the best candid shots.
2. UNC Charlotte Botanical Gardens
People sleep on University City, but the Botanical Gardens are worth the drive. Cherry blossoms, native wildflowers, shaded paths — there's so much variety in one place.
Pro tip: Come in the late afternoon. The light filtering through the trees is chef's kiss, soft, warm, and flattering for literally everyone.
3. Fisher Farm Park (Davidson)
Yes, it's a little outside the city. Yes, it's worth it. This place is 200 acres of open fields and rolling hills. The spring light hits the tall grass in a way that makes every shot look intentional, even the chaotic ones.
Pro tip: If you have kids who can't stand still for five seconds, bring them here. The space gives them room to run and gives me real, unscripted moments to capture.
4. Tryon Street Cherry Blossoms (Uptown)
While everyone's at Freedom Park, the cherry blossoms near Romare Bearden Park and along Tryon Street are having a whole moment. You get the soft blooms plus the Uptown skyline in the background, it's a different vibe entirely.
Pro tip: Go early on a weekday. The morning light is gorgeous and you'll actually have space to breathe.
5. Note Art House (Indoor Option)
Because this is Charlotte and spring rain is real. Note Art House is a creative studio that's bright, airy, and honestly looks like a beautifully styled home. It's my go-to when the weather doesn't cooperate but you still want that light, fresh spring feel.
Pro tip: Perfect for branding sessions. You get a controlled environment without sacrificing the aesthetic.
The bloom window here is short, sometimes only two weeks. If you're thinking about a spring session, now is the time.
